Linwood Park
Linwood Park is situated in a private, peaceful and supportive environment. Treatment will take place in a small, stately home, and individuals will have access to their own, single rooms. Linwood Park is situated in a serene location, and is easily accessible from its surrounding areas.
Types of treatment services Linwood Park offers
Linwood Park will begin treatment with a medicated detox for drugs or alcohol, during which individuals will have access to round-the-clock nursing assistance. Individuals will be given a course of medication to help ease withdrawal symptoms and make the process as comfortable as possible.
It is strongly recommended that a detox is followed by a period of residential rehabilitation. At Linwood Park this will involve an exploration of the underlying emotions and behaviours that have exacerbated the dependence. Linwood Park also adopts a 'programme of change', during which negative thoughts and behaviours will be addressed in order to make an individual's outlook much more positive. This will take the form of weekly one-to-one sessions, daily group therapy sessions, outside activities and programmes to help individuals relearn social skills.
Linwood Park focuses predominantly on a 12 step based therapeutic programme. This provides a strong foundation for the continuation of fellowship meetings, such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, in the post residential phase of treatment/recovery. Continuation of such meetings and other counselling support (ideally one-to-one sessions) will maximise an individual's chances of long-term recovery and successful rehabilitation.
How long could treatment for drug and alcohol addiction at Linwood Park take?
The length of treatment for a drug or alcohol addiction depends upon the individual circumstances. Generally, four weeks is the typical programme length offered for an alcohol addiction. Those with drug addictions may be advised to uptake longer programmes.
As a generalisation the duration of time spent in a clinic can depend upon the individual addiction. The longer that a programme can be accessed for, the better. However, as a minimum, four weeks is recommended for an alcohol addiction and six weeks for a drug addiction.
This is supported by research from NTORS (Gossop et al., 1996) that demonstrates those individuals who remained in a rehabilitation centre for at least four weeks had four times better drug abstinence rates than those who had shorter durations or left treatment early.
