Event will discuss decisions about the future of drug treatment
A high profile event organised by the European Association for the Treatment of Addiction (EATA) aims to bring together different sectors for an in-depth debate in June 2008.
Key policy officials from the Home Office and the Department of Health who helped lead the direction of the new national drug strategy will meet with chief executives and managing directors of EATA's member organisations at Strategic decisions: what the national drug strategy means for the future in central London on 30 June.
The speakers at the event are:
Karen Biggs Chief Executive, Phoenix Futures
Nick Lawrence Deputy Director, Head of Alcohol, Drugs and Tobacco, Health Improvement Directorate, Department of Health
Ian Martin Head of Drug Strategy Unit, Home Office
Sally Richards Acting Head of Drug Interventions Programme, Home Office
EATA Chief Executive Sharon Carson said, 'The Strategy is ambitious in some of its aims and as a result the treatment sector will be faced with many challenges over the coming years in meeting its actions. Our Strategic decisions event will provide a unique forum for the treatment and policy sectors to discuss with each other the challenges that may arise from the strategy.
