Funding for Scottish alcohol rehabilitation services to double
A £25 million boost for
alcohol treatment in Scotland is set to be announced by Scottish health minister Nicola Sturgeon.
According to the Daily Record Ms Sturgeon will announce that the funding for local alcohol and drug action teams will more than double from £10 million per year to £25 million.
A Scottish government source told the paper: "This new money will mean that treatment and rehabilitation services for people with alcohol problems will more than double.
"The government believes that tackling alcohol misuse is the greatest public health challenge facing Scotland.
"This new money for alcohol and drug action teams is part of meeting that challenge."
It was also reported that the extra funding will help expand rehabilitation and treatment services.
